First Nations

PINTER & Associates Ltd (PINTER)  has over thirteen years of experience working with First Nations and in northern communities throughout Western Canada on environmental, water and wastewater projects.

PINTER’s  experience includes: fourteen (14) Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) of entire First Nation reserves (land code and self governance initiatives), dozens of Phase II ESAs including six for the First Nation Land Management Agreement (FNLMA) process, and dozens of Phase III/remediation projects on over fifteen (15) First Nations. PINTER has investigated and/or remediated impacts due to: gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, agricultural chemicals, asbestos, PCBs, Dioxins and Furans, heavy metals, moulds and fungus on First Nations Lands. We have also completed numerous Environmental Screenings under The Canadian Environmental Assessment Act for projects on First Nations Lands.

PINTER and Associates Ltd has completed five water system assessments in Northern Saskatchewan and is currently working on a water treatment plant upgrade for the Town of Lynn Lake in Northern Manitoba & Seabee Gold Mine. PINTER is one of the first environmental consultants in Canada to work on Step 1 of the FNLMA Environmental Management Agreement (EMA) process. To date we have assisted four First Nations to complete Step 1. PINTER is currently working with two First Nations on EMA Step 2.
PINTER’s experience with First Nation projects include contamination investigations and clean up; landfill and lagoon studies, water treatments studies and design, impact assessments and representation of First Nations interests pertaining to the environment in third party discussions and negotiations.
